How to redirect folder of remote desktop user profile to another drive in server 2008

By default remote desktop user profile created in c: drive when user log in to on server. So all user data save in c: drive and the drive storage became full. That's effect the server performance. I will explain how to redirect folder of remote desktop user profile to another drive via Group policy.


  • Start > Run > gpmc.msc or open the group policy management console                               
  • Create new group policy OR right click default domain policy and select Edit.                          
  • Expand User configuration > Policies > Windows Settings > Folder Redirection.                   
  • in this you find all user profile folder and you will configure each folder by right click and select properties and you can set the path of each folder to another drive.
